To build on Steve's posting I would cite three critical qualities of the our book that make it an important resource for any organization regardless of business area..

-- First, our methodology focuses on the decision, not how it was made, so it can be employed without impacting whatever system you have in place--big data, predictive analytics, AI, gut feelings.

-- Second, structured analytic techniques are qualitative. They are based on evidence-based discussions within set frameworks that can minimize the impact of emotions and biases that so often lead to bad decisions or no decisions.

-- Third, and perhaps most important, it can be learned. Our approach is based on the best practices from our two worlds that been separated for far too long: the world of the US intelligence services where I served for decades and Steve's experience in risk management over the same period of time.
