Interactive Workshop - Women Corporate Directors, Philadelphia Chapter

On September 22, 2022 Jay Grusin and Steve Lindo held an interactive workshop for the Philadelphia Chapter of Women Corporate Directors (WCD). The purpose of the session was to demonstrate how the application of Intelligent Analysis tests high stakes-decisions before implementation.
The session led more than a dozen participants through a simulation that tested a CEO’s proposal to acquire a company that would open a new line of business. In small groups, the participants completed the five steps of Intelligent Analysis, including defining the Desired Outcome, testing the underlying assumptions about the impact of the acquisition on shareholder value using a Key Assumptions Check, and discussing a range of issues related to governance. The simulation ended with an assessment of the probability of the Desired Outcome, and recommendations mitigation strategies that would help manage the identified risks. The session received very positive feedback.
WCD is the world’s largest membership organization and community of women corporate board directors, serving on more than 8,500 public and private boards around the world. Through events, publications, and tools addressing the latest news and trends in business and governance, WCD inspires and educates board leaders—and raises the bar for board service in public and large private companies globally.
